At the heart of its sound is a resonant filter derived from the MS-20 circuit, known for its wide resonance range and raw, dynamic character. Three dedicated knobs—Pitch, Bend, and Time—allow rapid sculpting of tone and decay. Combined with the Amp Envelope and Pulse oscillator sections, this makes it effortless to design custom kicks, sub-basses, or percussive textures from scratch. Unlike sample-based alternatives, Volca Kick generates every sound in real time through true analog synthesis.

The 16-step sequencer goes far beyond basic pattern playback. Features like Accent, Slide, Active Step, and Bend Reverse enable expressive rhythmic variations. The innovative Motion Sequence function records knob movements—such as Pulse Color or Level changes—and loops them with the pattern for evolving, animated grooves. Touch FX lets you trigger real-time breaks and fills on the fly. With MIDI In and Korg Sync I/O, Volca Kick integrates seamlessly into any setup, whether syncing with other Volcas, DAWs, or hardware drum machines.
