Korg Electribe is a family of grooveboxes / music production stations that combine a synthesizer, step sequencer and effects processor in a compact, portable unit. Depending on the version (Electribe synth, Electribe Sampler, older EMX/ESX, newer wavetable‑based variants), they differ in sound engine – from analog‑modeling plus PCM to full sampling – but they all share the same concept: fast creation of beats, basslines, synth parts and complete patterns without a computer.
In the more recent models, the Electribe gives you up to 16 parts that can be assigned to drums, bass, synths or samples, 16 velocity‑sensitive pads, a step sequencer (typically 16 steps × multiple pages), onboard filters, modulation, per‑part insert effects and a master FX section controlled from an XY touch pad. Patterns can be chained, saved and in many versions exported as audio or DAW projects (such as Ableton Live), making the Electribe a flexible tool for sketching tracks, live performance and mobile production.
