JZ Microphones Pop Filter is a universal wire-mesh pop filter designed to work with any microphone. It is built around a mesh with a specific wave profile and a compact screen shape, mounted on a 45 cm gooseneck.
Plosives stopped without losing the top end
Double-layer nylon filters do stop blasts, but they also take away part of the band above 8 kHz, and the vocal loses its air — which then gets rebuilt with EQ and reads as harshness. A metal mesh with a shaped profile breaks up the air stream mechanically rather than by absorption, so the microphone's response stays intact. Reviewers tested this filter with a small-diaphragm condenser as well, which is the hardest case: those capsules pop far more readily than large-diaphragm designs.
A compact screen instead of a large plate in front of the mic
Large flat screens become an extra reflective surface right in front of the capsule and introduce early reflections that show up at close range as comb-filtered colouration. A compact screen keeps that surface small, and the 45 cm gooseneck lets you place it exactly where it is needed without dragging the stand around.
