Joranalogue Cycle 5

The Joranalogue Cycle 5 is a compact but powerful Eurorack oscillator that packs a lot of features into one.

At its heart is a highly stable, voltage-controlled triangle wave VCO whose performance is comparable or even better than that of larger, more expensive oscillator modules.

Instead of a coarse frequency control, there is a 7-position octave switch. Combined with a perfect-fifth transpose switch and factory pitch adjustment, the Cycle 5 becomes an exceptionally simple and musical VCO. Just center the fine tuning knob and the module instantly tunes to the C reference pitch.

Two high-precision volts-per-octave inputs add great flexibility. For example, one can be used for pitch sequencing and the other as a general-purpose exponential FM input, or both can be sequenced together for transposition effects - the dual inputs serve as a built-in high-precision summer.

Featuring all the classic waveforms from sine, triangle, sawtooth and square/pulse, plus a hard sync input and a low frequency oscillator (LFO) mode, the Cycle 5 is a truly versatile VCO. The innovative trigonometric waveform transform produces a very clean sine wave signal, perfect for bass lines.

But the real highlight of the Cycle 5 is its Vari-Wave feature. By adjusting the Vari-Wave knob, the corresponding output waveform will smoothly change from sine to triangle, sawtooth, square and finally a very narrow pulse. The Vari-Wave parameter can be controlled with CV voltage all the way to audio frequencies for extreme tones.

Equally at home as a modest modulator for larger VCOs, or as the central oscillator in miniature or polyphonic systems, the Cycle 5 is perhaps the most multi-talented tiny analog oscillator to date.
