IK Multimedia iRig Mic Cast 2

IK Multimedia iRig Mic Cast 2 is an ultracompact microphone for podcasts, interviews, video and live streams, connected in analog through a 3.5 mm TRRS mini jack in the CTIA/AHJ standard. Two 0.38 inch electret capsules work in front, rear or omnidirectional mode, and magnetic mounting holds it on a phone or tablet. See IK microphones in our Warsaw showroom.
A microphone on the phone instead of the room in the recording
The microphone built into a phone picks up the room together with the voice. The Mic Cast 2 measures 50 x 27 x 24 mm and weighs 23 g, and the two ferromagnetic plates in the box let you attach it magnetically to the device, also in a case, in portrait or landscape. The capsule selector switch chooses front, rear or omnidirectional pickup, so you record yourself, a guest on the other side or both people.
No battery and no interface
The connection is analog, a 3.5 mm TRRS mini jack, and a 20 cm cable is included, so the microphone works with iPhone, iPad and Android phones that have such a headset input or the right adapter. It needs no battery. The 3.5 mm TRS headphone output lets you listen to the recording, and apps that support it provide real-time monitoring. Sensitivity is -40 dB (5.6 mV/Pa), the response runs from 50 Hz to 18 kHz, and the maximum level is 115 dB SPL.
