HUM Audio N-Closure 2 (Empty Frame) is a 4U rackmount housing for up to two N-Strip modules from the N-TROPHY console — the smaller variant of the N-Closure 6 (11U, 6 slots), designed primarily for stereo and dual-channel applications. Ordered separately from the channel strip modules, it allows one or two N-Strip modules to be purchased independently and installed at any time. Empty slots are covered with blank panels. The rear panel carries a full complement of balanced XLR and combo sockets — identical to those on the N-TROPHY channel section — for each of the two slots: global line inputs for external sidechain circuits, per-channel insert loop inputs and outputs, and channel line outputs with a selectable tap point. The built-in AC power supply handles up to two N-Strip modules with ECC88 tube compressors. Hand-built in Poland.
Two slots — stereo and dual-channel applications
The N-Closure 2 is primarily aimed at stereo and two-channel recording: drum overheads, classical piano, stereo acoustic guitar, vocal with a room track, M/S microphone pairs, or any application requiring two matched channels with identical processing characteristics. Two adjacent N-Strip modules in the N-Closure 2 have access to compressor stereo link — both channels can operate with a linked detection circuit, maintaining stereo image coherence under compression. The housing's electrical architecture is identical to the N-Closure 6: full XLR routing on the rear panel, global AUX 7+8 sidechain buses, and a selectable channel line output tap point — after the preamp or after full channel processing. The N-Closure 2 can also be ordered with one or two N-Strip modules factory-installed; without modules, empty slots are covered with blank panels. Studios requiring more than two channels should consider the N-Closure 6 (11U, 6 slots).
Rear panel and power supply
The N-Closure 2 rear panel provides balanced XLR and combo sockets per slot: a global KEY input for external sidechain (all installed channels include a switch to select which KEY input they use), insert send XLR, insert return XLR, and a channel line output with a selectable tap — after the preamp or after full channel processing. An AC power socket on the rear panel feeds the built-in supply, which powers up to two N-Strip modules including their ECC88 tube compressors. Empty slots are covered with blank panels.
