Heritage Audio Baby RAM Black Edition is a passive monitor controller with two stereo input pairs and two stereo output pairs on 6.35 mm TRS jacks. The Black version, made for the brand's 15th anniversary, has a deep black finish and a black RCA-type knob, while the circuit and the signal path are the same as in the standard Baby RAM. Switch sources and monitors without coloring the sound
An active controller adds its own electronics to the path, and with two interfaces and two pairs of monitors all you really need is a switch and a level control. Baby RAM is passive, so it needs no power, adds no distortion or noise, and its headroom is limited only by the devices before and after it. The insertion loss is below 0.2 dB. Push buttons select one of two inputs and one of two outputs, and you can run both output pairs at once by pressing both buttons together.
Level in 24 steps and three control buttons
Level is set by a 4-gang rotary switch with 24 steps of 3 dB, which keeps the left and right channels matched to within a tenth of a decibel. Mute, Dim and Mono buttons let you silence the monitors, lower the level or check mono compatibility quickly. The balanced, floating inputs and outputs also accept unbalanced signals.
