HeadRush FRFR-112 MKII is a powered FRFR (Full-Range Flat-Response) cabinet with a 12" low-frequency driver and a 1" high-frequency compression driver, engineered as a neutral monitoring platform for guitarists and bassists running amp modeling processors and multi-FX units. 2,500 W peak output, 132 dB maximum SPL and a frequency response of 53 Hz – 20 kHz (+/-3 dB) provide the headroom and dynamic range needed for any stage — without the tonal coloration of a traditional guitar cabinet, which would alter the amp and cab emulation already applied by the processor.
Why a flat response matters with amp modeling
A conventional guitar cabinet imposes its own EQ curve on the signal — a characteristic that was historically part of the total sound of a valve amp and speaker combination. An amp modeler with cabinet emulation already contains that response; passing it through a guitar cabinet's coloration doubles it and misrepresents the programmed tone. The FRFR-112 MKII processes the signal linearly: the 12" woofer with 2.5" high-temperature voice coil and the 1" ceramic compression driver are voiced for accuracy rather than character. A 2 kHz crossover divides the frequency bands between drivers without phase artifacts in the middle of the guitar's core range.
Two independent inputs, Bluetooth and a stage-ready HPF
Two combo XLR + 1/4" TRS inputs with independent volume controls accept two sources simultaneously — a modeling processor on one and a Bluetooth device for backing tracks on the other. The XLR Link output chains additional cabinets or sends directly to a front-of-house console without a separate DI box. The HPF switch at 100 Hz cuts problematic low-end buildup in dense stage mixes where bass and kick drum frequencies compete with the guitar signal. The Ground Lift switch eliminates hum and buzz from ground loops without requiring the source to be traced through a packed backline. A standard 36 mm pole socket on the base allows speaker stand mounting alongside the wedge and upright operating positions.
