Golden Age Project R1 Active MKIII is an active ribbon microphone that blends the smooth, natural sound of a classic ribbon design with the high output and consistency of active electronics. Designed for modern studios, it captures the vintage warmth and silky top end of traditional ribbons while offering higher sensitivity and stable performance with any preamp — even those with lower gain.

The R1 Active MKIII uses a 50 mm, ultra-thin (2 µm) aluminum ribbon element with a transformer-balanced active circuit, providing rich low-end response and smooth highs without harshness. Thanks to its figure-eight polar pattern, the microphone delivers a wide stereo field and excellent off-axis rejection, making it ideal for vocals, brass, strings, guitar cabinets, or room ambience. With a maximum SPL of up to 160 dB, it handles even the loudest sources without distortion.

The microphone is built in a durable metal housing and powered by standard 48 V phantom power — no external PSU required. It comes with a shockmount and a protective case, making it a reliable, ready-to-record solution for both studio and live use.
