Ferrofish Pulse16 + 24dBu I/O — a 16-channel analog-to-ADAT converter with analog signal levels raised to +24dBu.
This is the base Pulse16 model, built for studios and productions that need a straightforward, reliable bridge between analog gear and an ADAT-equipped interface or console. The +24dBu option adapts the unit to broadcast and studio equipment requiring more headroom than the standard +20dBu ceiling.
Expanding a Studio by 16 Channels Without Changing Infrastructure
A common challenge when adding analog inputs and outputs is having to invest in an expensive new interface, when existing gear already supports ADAT. Pulse16 solves this by converting 16 analog channels to ADAT through 2 x 4 ports, which at 96kHz in SMUX mode still carry the full 16x16 channel count. That means adding a complete set of analog I/O to an existing mixer or ADAT interface comes down to connecting a single 1U unit, with no changes to the rest of the system.
Signal Headroom Matched to Broadcast Requirements
Working with very hot analog sources — broadcast equipment operating to SMPTE levels, for instance — needs more headroom than a typical +20dBu ceiling provides. The +24dBu option raises the maximum signal level across all 32 TRS jacks, adjustable in 1dB steps, removing the need to pad the signal down before it reaches the converter. Low-latency Cirrus Logic converters, backed by a temperature-compensated clock and a jitter-reduction PLL, hold full conversion precision even at the raised operating level.
