Ferrofish Pulse 16DX with Dante and Singlemode — a 16-channel AD/DA converter combining ADAT, MADI, Dante, and analog I/O at studio levels up to +20dBu, fitted with a Singlemode MADI module for long-range transmission.
This Pulse16 DX configuration is aimed at installations where analog, ADAT, and networked equipment need to coexist in a single unit, and the MADI link requires reach beyond what standard Multimode offers. It fits scenarios like a control room linked to a tracking space in a separate building, larger venues, or permanent broadcast installations.
One Converter for Four Formats at Once
The usual headache when bridging gear from different eras is keeping a separate converter for each standard — analog, ADAT, MADI, and network. Pulse16 DX solves this with an internal routing matrix where 16x16 analog channels, 4x4 ADAT ports, a MADI module, and 64x64 Dante channels (Brooklyn II card) are all available simultaneously and can be freely routed to each other in groups of 8 channels. That means a single 1U unit replaces several dedicated format converters in the rack.
MADI Transmission Range Without Signal Degradation
A standard Multimode MADI module effectively limits optical transmission range to around 2km, which can fall short for building-to-building links or larger broadcast facilities. The field-swappable SFP module in Singlemode configuration removes that limit, enabling transmission over distances measured in tens of kilometers without signal degradation. It's worth noting the device on the other end of the MADI link must also run in single-mode — most gear on the market uses Multimode.
