The Ex Machina Pulsar MkII is the most versatile active three-way studio monitor in the company’s lineup, engineered as a definitive critical listening tool for demanding near- and midfield applications. Building upon the legacy of its predecessor, the MkII iteration introduces refined power management and optimized crossover topologies. It successfully delivers the massive headroom and sub-bass impact of a far-field main monitor while strictly maintaining the razor-sharp imaging and transient speed crucial for detailed, fatigue-free mixing in modern control rooms.

Sealed-Box Precision and Extreme Excursion

Port turbulence, phase shift, and group delay are persistent enemies of accurate low-frequency evaluation. The Pulsar MkII circumvents these artifacts entirely by utilizing a heavily damped, acoustic suspension (sealed) enclosure. Low-end reproduction is handled by a custom 221mm (roughly 9-inch) aluminum-alloy SEAS Extreme Series subwoofer boasting immense linear excursion. Powered by a dedicated 250W Hypex Ncore amplifier module, this driver outputs a remarkably tight, highly articulate sub-bass response that remains mathematically linear down to 35 Hz, with an F6 cutoff extending to an impressive 28 Hz.

Flawless Phase Linearity and Coaxial Focus

Translating spatial depth requires absolute phase coherence across the critical midrange and high frequencies. Ex Machina achieves this by leveraging a custom 7-inch coaxial transducer outfitted with resonance-canceling Metamodal TX carbon fiber diaphragms. A native 5th-Generation SHARC+ DSP governs the entire acoustic system in real-time, working in tandem with flagship AKM Velvet Sound AD/DA converters. This advanced architecture executes ultra-steep 8th-order digital crossovers at 200 Hz and 2 kHz with complete phase correction, locking the system’s phase response within a strict ±15° tolerance from 20 Hz up to 30 kHz.
