LIAISON replaces a conventional patchbay in situations where processors need to be switched in, switched out, and reordered on the fly without physically repatching cables. The unit occupies 2U, uses XLR connectors exclusively on all six insert sends and returns, and provides a DB25 connector for monitoring both buses pre and post insert simultaneously.
Instant A/B comparisons without repatching cables
Switching runs through relays that deliver true hardwire bypass, physically removing an inactive processor from the signal path even when the unit itself lacks a bypass circuit. That means comparing two versions of a chain happens with no gap in the audio, removing the short-term memory problem that undermines critical listening when patching takes several seconds. The Flip switches reverse the order of paired inserts (1&2, 3&4, 5&6) at the push of a button, making it instant to audition whether a compressor should sit before or after an equalizer.
Building and reshaping a processing chain on the fly
Two independent buses, A and B, run separate hardware chains at the same time, or can be daisy-chained into a single longer path when needed. Buss B carries an additional parallel processing loop with polarity reversal, letting a processed signal blend with the dry source without the latency a console-and-patchbay setup would introduce. Four monitor outputs on the DB25 connector feed a monitor controller directly, so either buss can be auditioned pre or post insert without touching a cable. Four onboard memory slots store complete routing configurations for instant recall, and integration with a Dangerous MASTER or a second LIAISON extends the insert count without compromising signal transparency.
