Bettermaker PEQ Core

Bettermaker PEQ Core is a stereo passive analog equalizer in a compact 1U chassis, controlled entirely through a dedicated plugin (VST3/AU/AAX). A fully analog signal path delivers the musical, smooth character of classic passive EQ designs, while digital parameter control through the plugin provides instant recall, DAW automation and preset management — without physical knobs or manual session notes.

Analog character with digital recall precision

Classic passive equalizers colour the signal in ways mastering engineers have relied on for decades: broad, musical curves with natural band transitions, but with none of the repeatability precision modern DAW work demands. The PEQ Core resolves that conflict: a 100% analog audio path with digital control through the plugin. All parameters are stored in the hardware and recalled instantly when a session is opened, and the Band Audition function lets you isolate and monitor a specific frequency band while making adjustments. The plugin adds a spectrum analyser drawing audio from wherever the plugin is inserted in the session, plus a graphical filter curve display based on mathematical modelling of the analog filters.

Extended high-frequency section and hybrid integration

Standard passive equalizers top out their boost palette at 12 or 16 kHz. The PEQ Core extends it with dedicated Air bands at 20 kHz and 28 kHz, opening up the top end without the harshness and digital artefacts that appear with virtual emulations. The low-frequency section offers boost up to 15 dB and cut up to 16 dB at 20, 30, 60 and 100 Hz, while the high-cut section controls the top end at 5, 10 and 20 kHz. Stereo and dual mono modes with digital channel linking, and a stackable 1U chassis, make the PEQ Core a natural fit for multi-bus processing in large hybrid setups.
