The high-voltage, fully discrete Class A circuits used across the AD2000 series need low-noise power, and a mains transformer large enough to deliver it doesn't always fit cleanly inside a slim preamp or equalizer chassis. The B2-T addresses this by moving the entire power block outside, into a separate, compact enclosure connected via a multi-pin cable. This is a common approach in top-tier studio gear, where isolating power from the audio path is a precondition for hitting the stated noise floor.
Power Kept Away From the Signal Path
Keeping the toroidal transformer and rectifier outside the audio chassis reduces mains hum and electromagnetic interference reaching the sensitive amplifier stages. In practice that means a lower noise floor at high gain settings, which matters when working with low-sensitivity microphones or quiet acoustic sources. Separating power from the audio electronics also cuts down heat build-up inside the main enclosure, extending the working life of components in the signal path.
Universal Voltage for Any Country
Switchable 100-240V input lets the same power supply run anywhere without swapping a transformer or adding a voltage converter. That's practical for studios receiving gear from different markets, and for engineers moving racked preamps between locations. Connection to the unit runs through the dedicated PC-1 cable, sold separately when the B2-T is bought on its own as a spare or replacement part.
The B2-T is compatible with the full AD2000 series family, including the dual channel AD2022 preamplifier, the AD2055 equalizer, and the AD2044 and AD2077 compressors, as well as the mono M5 and V5 preamplifiers. Every new unit in this series ships from the factory with a matching B2-T and PC-1 cable, so buying the B2-T on its own is mostly a service, replacement, or spare-rack scenario.
