Austrian Audio OC818 Dual Set Plus Black is the complete stereo set with two large-diaphragm condensers in black finish, a full accessory kit for each and a stereo bar in a carrying case. The black version is acoustically identical to the standard model, in a finish that does not throw back light from lamps and cameras.

Four tracks instead of one decision made at the stand

Every OC818 brings its rear diaphragm out on a separate mini XLR connector. With two microphones that means four tracks from a single setup, with the pattern of both mics resolved afterwards inside the PolarDesigner and StereoCreator plugins. This addresses a situation familiar from live band sessions in the studio: the placement was right, but the room came in too strongly or spill from the neighbouring instrument turned out unacceptable. With both diaphragms captured, narrowing the pattern does not require another take.

A finish made for work on camera

The black finish has a practical reason on filmed sessions, broadcasts and photo shoots: the microphone does not catch reflections from lighting and does not pull the eye in frame. Everything else is unchanged, with 9 dB self-noise, 158 dB maximum SPL with the pad engaged and a three-position high-pass filter. The accessory kit covers shock mounts, clips, mini XLR cables, windscreens and the SB1 stereo bar, which is everything a permanent stereo position needs.
