Austrian Audio OC818 Dual Set Go Silver is a pair of large-diaphragm condenser microphones in silver finish, packaged for work outside the studio. The set contains two OC818 microphones, two windshields, two mic clips, two mini XLR cables and a robust carry case, which is the minimum needed to record in stereo on location.

Location recording without hauling the full case

Working outside the studio normally forces a compromise: either you bring the full complement of shock mounts and bars and lose mobility, or you bring bare microphones and improvise on site. Dual Set Go answers that through its contents: clips instead of shock mounts and a lighter case make a kit that genuinely fits in luggage while still providing a pair with a dynamic range from 9 dB self-noise to 148 dB SPL. That covers quiet acoustic captures and loud concerts alike.

Polar pattern decided back at the studio

The mini XLR cables in the set are not a cosmetic extra: they carry the rear diaphragm signal from each microphone, so a location session comes home as four tracks rather than two. Polar pattern, and with a pair the stereo technique as well, is set later in the PolarDesigner and StereoCreator plugins. On recordings in places you cannot revisit for a retake, that is the single most valuable feature in the kit. On site, the switchable patterns, pad and high-pass filter on the microphone remain available.
