At this year’s Superbooth 2025, Solid State Logic unveiled their highly anticipated expansion interface – the SSL Alpha 8. This powerful unit delivers eight channels of A-D and D-A conversion along with a full 18-in/18-out USB audio interface. The Alpha 8 is a perfect complement to the recently launched SSL 18, but it also works seamlessly as an expander for any ADAT- or S/PDIF-equipped setup.

Built around next-generation 32-bit / 192 kHz converters, the Alpha 8 delivers class-leading dynamic range, ultra-low THD+N, and exceptional channel separation. All analogue I/O operates at line level, making it ideal for studios using external outboard gear, samplers, synths or drum machines. Flexible routing means Alpha 8 can serve as an ADAT/S/PDIF converter, a full-fledged USB interface, or a hybrid of both.
Each analogue channel can be individually calibrated to +9, +18, +20 or +24 dBu, allowing integration with a variety of gear – from outboard and vintage synths to analogue mixers and monitor controllers. The Alpha 8 also features ADAT, S/PDIF and Word Clock I/O (all of which can act as clock sources), plus an internal clock for added flexibility.
