Studio Subwoofers – Extending Your Monitors Into the Low End

Studio Subwoofers – Extending Your Monitors Into the Low End

A studio subwoofer isn't for making things louder — it's for hearing frequencies your main monitors physically can't reproduce. This collection covers studio subwoofers for electronic music production, film and Dolby Atmos work.

Do you actually need one

If your nearfields already reach down to 40–50 Hz cleanly and you don't work on bass-heavy electronic music, film scores or immersive formats, you may not need one. If you do — IK Multimedia iLoud Sub pairs well with compact desktop monitors, while Genelec 7350A integrates into a full SAM-calibrated Genelec system for a properly measured crossover.

Where to start

Adding low end to a compact desktop pair? IK Multimedia iLoud Sub is sized to match. Want a budget-friendly way to hear what's happening below 60 Hz? Kali Audio WS-12 gets you there without a huge outlay. Working in Dolby Atmos or film, where LFE management matters? Talk to us about matching a sub to your specific main monitors and room.

The brands we carry

We carry Genelec, IK Multimedia, Kali Audio and Focal.

Hear it in our Warsaw showroom

The biggest difference between us and a mail-order shop: you can hear the gear before you buy it. Our showroom at Nowogrodzka 6A/102 in Warsaw is there so you can try it on your own material, not a shop demo. Book a visit or just swing by — we'll help without the sales pitch. FAQ

Will a subwoofer make my mixes louder?

No — its job is accuracy in the low end, not volume. Properly integrated, it should sound like an extension of your main monitors, not a separate loud element.

How do I set the crossover point correctly?

Match it to where your main monitors start rolling off, usually somewhere between 60–100 Hz depending on the model — check your monitor's spec sheet, or ask us when you order.

Do I need a subwoofer for Dolby Atmos work?

Effectively yes — the LFE channel needs to be monitored accurately, and most nearfield monitors alone can't reproduce it. See our guide on building an Atmos-capable room below.
