HLabs Audio DI02TBV is the Class-A DI02 direct box in its touring configuration — supplied with the Touring Bag and the locking V-Lock power cable. At the heart of the circuit sits a Carnhill VT24499 output transformer, the same part used in Neve 51-series consoles.
An instrument the DI does not load down
Passive guitar and bass pickups react to the input impedance of whatever they meet: too low and the top end goes, along with the dynamics, before any gain is applied. The DI02 input sits above 4 MΩ and — the part that matters in practice — that figure does not change when the pad is engaged. The instrument sounds the same at every pad setting, so a level change is not also a tone change.
A feed to the amp with nothing lost at the split
On most direct boxes the LINK output is a plain parallel tap that adds cable capacitance and pulls down the signal going to the stage amp. Here the LINK output has its own buffer, so the cabinet gets a full signal regardless of how long the run to the desk is. Earth lift on the XLR output removes ground loops between stage and FOH, and a button that kills the front-panel backlighting earns its place in a dark studio and on a dark stage.
