Genelec 8340A RAW is a Smart Active Monitor from the SAM series with a 165 mm woofer, a 19 mm metal dome tweeter and two 150 W Class D amplifiers, in a die-cast aluminium enclosure with the RAW finish, which means unpainted aluminium. A monitor for post-production, recording and mixing that calibrates itself to the room.
Take the room out of the mix decision
GLM software with the AutoCal 2 algorithm measures the room response and adjusts level, delay and EQ on every monitor, and the settings live inside the monitor, so they stay after the network is disconnected. Calibration needs the 9320A controller or the GLM Calibration Kit with its measurement microphone, both sold separately. The minimum diffraction enclosure gives a wide, stable sweet spot, and the 45 Hz to 20 kHz response (±1.5 dB) is enough for mixing without a subwoofer in a smaller room.
Connections and mounting
An analog XLR input, AES/EBU input and output, and two RJ45 ports for the GLM network let you build a system from stereo up to immersive. The monitor sits on an Iso-Pod stand with ±15 degrees of tilt, and M6 points on the back take wall and ceiling mounts. A 1.8 m mains cable and a 5 m RJ45 cable are included.
