Digitakt II represents a powerful evolution of the cult classic original – retaining the compact form factor and intuitive Elektron workflow while introducing significant upgrades under the hood. Each of the 16 tracks can operate as stereo audio, mono audio, or MIDI, offering versatility in building rhythms, melodies, and controlling external gear. The modular system allows selection of one of five audio machines per track – from simple one-shot playback through time-stretching and pitch-shifting to grid-based slicing. This is complemented by a choice of filters from the FLTR section and rich effects: delay, reverb, chorus, bit reduction, sample reduction, and overdrive per track.

The sequencer has been expanded to 128 steps per pattern and track, with individual lengths and time scaling for each track, opening unlimited polyrhythmic possibilities. The new Euclidean sequence generator with two layers enables automatic creation of complex, generative rhythms. Four Trig modes (Tracks, Velocity, Retrigs, Preset Pool) significantly expand performance capabilities, while Parameter Lock and micro-timing functions provide precise control over each step. Keyboard mode with 36 scales enables chromatic playing across 10 octaves, and Song Mode allows easy creation of full compositions by chaining patterns. Control All, Kit Perform Mode, and Temp Save/Reload functions make live performance fluid and creative. Digitakt II operates as a Class Compliant USB Audio interface, integrating with computers and mobile devices, with upcoming Overbridge support providing multitrack audio streaming and full DAW control.
