UT Twin48 is a reference-grade tube microphone that captures the sound of two legendary models from the 1940s and 1950s – in a single body. With the Twin Mode switch, users can toggle between 47 mode (cardioid and omni) and 48 mode (cardioid and figure-8), delivering two distinct tonal characters ideal for vocals, brass, strings, and a wide range of instruments.
The amplification stage is built around a hand-selected NOS EF86 pentode, producing a rich, harmonically saturated sound. The custom UT K48 capsule is a brass, dual-diaphragm, single-backplate design with 24k gold sputtering, optimized for a 60 V polarization voltage. The UT-BV8 transformer is hand-wound in the USA to Braunbuch specification, featuring high-nickel laminations and full Faraday shielding.
The included fully discrete power supply provides isolated voltage rails, designed without integrated circuits or switching transformers, ensuring exceptionally low self-noise. The package also includes a premium Sommer Octave 7-pin cable and a vintage-style carrying case.
