Trident 68 Console - 24 Channel is an analogue recording console in split/inline configuration with an LED meter bridge, twenty-four input channels and eight subgroups. Trident introduced the split/inline layout on the A-Range console in the late 1960s and it has been an industry standard ever since.
Servicing without shutting the studio down
Input channels sit on individual boards in eight-channel panels, faders included, and lift out from the top of the console. Subgroups work the same way, and the master channel is entirely independent of the rest. A fault on one channel does not idle the room for a week, because the panel comes out and goes back without dismantling the desk.
Preamp and EQ with headroom for ribbons
The preamps give 65 dB of gain, equivalent input noise below -128 dBu at full gain and a response from 10 Hz to 55 kHz, which is enough to drive a ribbon microphone without lifting the noise floor with it. The three-band Trident EQ derives from the Series 80 console: the high band sweeps from 1 to 15 kHz, the mid from 200 Hz to 3 kHz with a choice of 1 or one-third octave bandwidth, and the low band from 40 to 650 Hz. Add a 50 Hz high-pass filter and a selectable channel insert. All multichannel connections use DB25, with main and monitor outputs on XLR.
