Stager Microphone SR-2N is a passive figure-8 ribbon microphone built around the same ribbon and transformer as Stager's flagship SR-1A, with neodymium magnets in place of alnico. It weighs under a pound and fits a standard microphone clip, so it works equally well in a studio rack or a touring mic case.
Ribbon character without the flagship weight
A toroidal transformer designed and built in-house by Stager, paired with a 2 by 0.2 inch ribbon at 1.8 microns thick, delivers a strong low end, a neutral midrange and the gentle high-frequency rolloff that good ribbons are known for, without losing transient detail. That combination makes the SR-2N flattering on percussive sources as well as guitar and vocals, anywhere a dynamic mic's edge would be too much.
