SSL 18 is Solid State Logic's first professional 19" rackmount USB audio interface, meticulously engineered to serve as the high-performance centerpiece of a modern production studio. Featuring next-generation 32-bit/192 kHz converters and eight class-leading microphone preamps, it delivers pristine audio clarity alongside the iconic analog soul SSL is known for. With a total of 26 inputs and 28 outputs, this interface provides the scalability and sonic authority required for complex recording and mixing sessions.
4K Analog Mojo and Advanced Hybrid Integration
Each of the eight SSL-designed preamps features the Legacy 4K mode, a circuit inspired by the legendary 4000-series consoles that injects musical harmonic distortion and a "forward" high-frequency lift into the signal path. For engineers integrating outboard gear, SSL 18 offers 10 DC-coupled balanced line outputs—capable of sending CV to modular synthesizers—and dedicated analog inserts on the first two channels. The integrated monitor controller, featuring Talkback and the famous Listen Mic Compressor (LMC), ensures professional studio workflow and creative signal destruction on demand.
SSL 360 Ecosystem and Expandable Architecture
The interface is powered by the SSL 360° software, providing a low-latency digital mixer for sophisticated routing and custom cue mixes for artists. When the session grows, SSL 18 expands effortlessly via dual ADAT ports, adding up to 16 channels of digital I/O. A dedicated Word Clock output ensures rock-solid synchronization with external digital hardware. Bundled with the comprehensive SSL Production Pack, the SSL 18 provides all the hardware and software tools necessary to achieve a world-class "large console" sound in a compact rack format.
