sE Electronics sE8 Supercardioid Capsule Pair is two replacement supercardioid capsules for sE8 microphones, factory-matched as a pair. A pair gives virtually identical sensitivity on both channels, which is what stereo work needs and what two random capsules off the shelf cannot promise.
Matching you cannot do yourself
In stereo techniques a sensitivity difference between capsules ruins the image straight away: the centre drifts to one side and you correct it on the tracks. Even a small sensitivity difference shifts the centre of the image, so factory matching matters more than the quality of a single capsule. sE selects every pair from hundreds of single capsules to reach the highest possible correlation across the frequency range and virtually identical sensitivity. You swap the capsules into two sE8 bodies you already own and have a supercardioid pair without buying new microphones.
Stereo without the bleed
A tight pattern works on drum overheads, a choir, string sections and piano in a room with other sources: pickup from the sides is strongly limited and the image stays precise. The hand-crafted capsule with an ultra-thin gold-sputtered diaphragm delivers detail without an artificial front end. The pair suits XY and ORTF as well as a spaced AB layout, because both capsules behave the same however you place them. You fit them into the sE8 bodies you already own. A pair is especially useful where you cannot record a second time: a concert, a rehearsal, a session with a live band.
