The 5088 is Rupert Neve's first fully discrete console design in over thirty years — and his most technically advanced to date. Power rails running at ±45 V demanded the development of entirely new op-amp cards capable of handling that voltage while eliminating crossover distortion outright, resulting in 10 dB greater dynamic range than any previous Neve console design. Every single input and output — including inserts and monitor outputs — is coupled through custom-wound transformers designed specifically for each circuit in the desk. The console is available in modular configurations from 8 to 80+ channels, expandable in multiples of 16 as the studio grows.
Total isolation across the entire signal path
Most large-format consoles leave insert points without transformer coupling — an accepted compromise that invites noise and ground-loop issues into the signal chain. The 5088 places custom transformers at every audio junction, including inserts, delivering a true floating ground and complete galvanic isolation throughout the desk. The result is near-zero channel crosstalk, an exceptionally low noise floor, and the kind of electrical independence between channels that matters when you're running 48 tracks and multiple outboard units simultaneously.
Routing depth without signal path compromise
Eight group buses, eight aux sends per channel, four stereo FX returns, and the optional SwiftMix Automation system — with motorized faders and DAW control over Ethernet — give the 5088 the routing depth of consoles twice its footprint. Each channel strip includes switchable Line/Tape/Buss inputs, a transformer-coupled direct output configurable pre or post fader, Solo, Mute, and Send Follows Pan. The optional Penthouse frame accommodates Portico and Shelford signal processing modules — mic preamps, inductor EQs, dynamics processors — mounted directly into the console, keeping external patch bays to a minimum.
