PSI Audio AVAA C225 is a high-power active bass trap designed to reduce low-frequency room modes in home cinemas, professional studios, small clubs, screening rooms, and other environments operating at high sound pressure levels. Active bass absorption instead of electronic correction

AVAA stands for Active Velocity Acoustic Absorber. A built-in pressure sensor continuously monitors low-frequency acoustic pressure around the unit, while the active control system responds in real time and absorbs excessive energy before it develops into a persistent room resonance.

The AVAA C225 is not a subwoofer and does not use conventional noise cancellation. It does not produce an audible anti-signal and does not modify the source, loudspeaker response, or direct sound. Instead, it changes the acoustic impedance around its installation point, behaving like a highly efficient low-frequency absorbing surface.

Controlled bass at up to 135 dB SPL

The C225 was developed for rooms in which smaller active bass traps can reach their operating limits. Its two 10-inch membranes absorb low-frequency pressure at levels of up to 135 dB SPL, making it suitable for powerful home cinema systems, club installations, demonstration rooms, immersive monitoring systems, and studios working at elevated playback levels.

By shortening the decay of room modes, the C225 helps prevent kick drums, explosions, bass lines, and low-frequency effects from turning into an indistinct rumble. The result is tighter impact, improved definition, and more reliable low-frequency perception throughout the room.

Broadband operation without tuning

Unlike membrane or Helmholtz resonators that must be tuned to a narrow frequency, the AVAA C225 operates across the entire 12–130 Hz range. No measurement-based calibration or individual room-mode tuning is required. Position the unit near a low-frequency pressure maximum — typically close to a rigid wall or corner — connect power, and adjust its operation using the compatible control application.

High efficiency in a practical format

PSI Audio states that the AVAA C225 can provide absorption comparable to a conventional porous absorber approximately 40 times its size. This makes it possible to control deep bass without filling the room with extremely thick passive treatment, which is especially valuable in home cinemas, production rooms, and commercial spaces where usable floor area is limited.
