Millennia HV-3C is a two-channel microphone preamp built around the transformerless, matched discrete transistor HV-3 circuit. The whole audio path is balanced, and the unit is assembled by hand in Northern California in a welded 16-gauge steel 19-inch chassis.
Stereo-matched gain for acoustic recording
Gain runs from 8.5 dB to 60 dB in 36 steps of 1.5 dB, matched between channels to ±0.08 dB. That makes it suited to stereo pairs, orchestral and choir recording, where a level mismatch between channels moves the image. Input headroom of +23 dBu means loud sources do not need an attenuator pad.
Bandwidth and noise for critical sources
Frequency response extends from below 8 Hz to beyond 300 kHz, THD+N is below 0.001% and the noise floor is -133 dB EIN at 60 dB gain. Options include a DC-coupled input for ribbon and dynamic microphones and the BK input for DPA microphones with 130 V powering.
