This accessory is aimed at engineers working with mid-size body microphones from this family, where the housing geometry and mounting points differ from smaller LCT Recording models and call for a purpose-shaped suspension rather than a generic clip. The LCT 40 SHx was engineered specifically around the size and mounting points of the LCT 540 S, LCT 540 Subzero, and LCT 640 TS.

A Fitted Suspension for Non-Standard Microphone Geometry

The problem with universal shockmounts is that not every microphone body fits a standard clip mount — the LCT 540/640 series has different mounting-point spacing and a different body diameter than smaller models. The LCT 40 SHx solves this with a build precisely fitted to these models, giving a secure, stable hold with no play that could let the body shift during a session.

Eliminating Vibration Transmitted Through the Stand

With a microphone mounted directly in a rigid clip, every bump to the stand, footstep on the floor, or vibration from an adjacent room passes straight into the capsule as low-frequency noise that's hard to remove in post. The LCT 40 SHx's flexible suspension mechanically isolates the microphone from the stand body, damping that vibration before it reaches the diaphragm, allowing a clean signal even on a hard floor. Its threaded quick-release closure also lets the microphone go in and out in one motion, and compatibility with both 3/8" and 5/8" threads removes the need for an adapter.
