KRK V8 Series Five is an eight-inch active monitor in which KRK dropped the lifted low end of the Rokit line in favour of a linear response and room-specific calibration. Class D bi-amplification drives a woven Kevlar woofer and a silk dome tweeter, and every setting changes wirelessly instead of reaching behind the cabinet.
The monitor is not lying, the wall behind it is
Eight inches placed against a wall or into a corner will always lift the bottom, and low-end decisions made in those conditions fall apart on another system. The V8 carries 25 boundary and tuning presets on board: you dial in the actual placement instead of compensating for the room by ear on every mix. For harder spaces there are seven parametric filters and adjustable delay.
Retune without crawling behind the desk
The monitors join a KRK Mesh network and are configured from the app. On immersive work, where you run a dozen speakers and half of them hang out of arm's reach, that is the difference between fifteen minutes and a whole afternoon of alignment. The XLR/TRS combo input switches between analogue and AES3, so one set covers both an analogue and a digital chain.
