HUM Audio Devices RS-2
The HUM Audio Devices RS-2 is the world's first stereo/mid-side ribbon microphone with remote control and built-in high-quality discrete microphone preamplifiers.
The RS-2 reproduces sound with unparalleled depth and detail while retaining the classic ribbon microphone sound. The microphone itself is equipped with two rotating heads that can be set to stereo LR (Blumlein) or Mid/Side mode. Each head has a custom-made 1.8-micron aluminum ribbon driven by powerful magnets.
The microphone housing houses two line outputs, powered by two high-quality Jensen JE990-based Class A microphone preamplifiers with Lundahl input and output transformers.
Unlike other ribbon microphones, the Hum RS-2 offers a choice of active and passive modes and is controlled by an analog remote control that provides left (side) and right (center) level control, polarity inversion, Dimm and M/S encoding/decoding. The remote control also includes an adjustable low-pass filter and an Air Boost switch.
