Genelec 8320A White is an active 2-way studio monitor from the Smart Active Monitoring family, the entry point to Genelec SAM systems. It has a 105 mm woofer and a 19 mm tweeter, two 50 W Class D amplifiers and up to 100 dB SPL. The White version has a white enclosure. See Genelec monitors in our Warsaw showroom.
Neutral monitoring in a small room
In a small room what matters is whether a monitor stays even off axis and does not boom. The recycled aluminium enclosure has a rear port, a curved form and an integrated waveguide, which is how Genelec claims a wide uncoloured sweet spot and strong low-end extension for such a compact unit. The response runs from 55 Hz to 23 kHz (-6 dB), and the height with the Iso-Pod stand is 242 mm.
Fitting the monitor to the room
The 8320A is a SAM monitor, so you set it up and calibrate it in the GLM software, where the AutoCal 2 algorithm corrects delay and room influence. The computer connects through the GLM network on RJ45 sockets, and the settings can be stored in the monitor itself. Calibration needs the free GLM software and a GLM Calibration Kit device, sold separately. Genelec offers mounting accessories for this monitor, among them the 8000-406 short table stand and TRIOL floor stands (sold separately), so you can place it on a desk or on a stand.
