Focusrite RedNet D16R MkII — a bi-directional 16x16 AES3 interface for Dante networks, bridging digital consoles, power amplifiers and other AES/EBU equipment into an audio-over-IP system with no external conversion needed.
Two DB25 connectors wired to the AES59 standard each carry eight channels of AES3, an additional XLR pair duplicates channels 1-2 as an alternate AES3 or DARS input, and stereo S/PDIF on RCA connects consumer gear such as CD players or recorders. Everything is set up remotely through RedNet Control and Dante Controller.
Any AES3 source connected without guessing the sample rate
Sample rate conversion runs independently on every input, so external equipment running on a different clock than the Dante network can simply be plugged in and recorded or played back immediately — no manual sample rate matching, no risk of clicks from a mismatched clock. The clock source can be set to internal, Word Clock, DARS, the AES 1-2 or 9-10 input pair, or the Dante network master, letting D16R MkII act as either a follower or the master clock for the whole system.
Signal path redundancy and precise level control
Two independent power supplies with locking IEC inlets and automatic failover, plus dual etherCON ports running in redundant, switched or daisy-chain mode, protect against signal loss in both fixed installs and touring rigs. Every input and output channel has independent level control from within RedNet Control, making it possible to calibrate gain staging to a console or amplifier precisely without touching settings on the external device itself.
