Ferrofish A32 Pro SM — a 64-channel analog-to-digital converter with 32x32 I/O and a Singlemode MADI module for long-distance transmission, in a 1U chassis.
This A32 Pro variant is built for installations where the MADI signal has to cover distances well beyond what standard Multimode fiber allows — building-to-building links, large venues, or permanent broadcast installations spanning hundreds of meters or kilometers. Aside from the optical module type, the unit keeps the full functionality of the base A32 Pro: high analog channel density, power redundancy, and flexible internal routing.
Transmission Range Without Sacrificing Signal Quality
A standard Multimode optical module limits practical MADI transmission to roughly 2km, which can fall short in larger installations spanning multiple buildings or remote production positions. The Singlemode configuration in A32 Pro SM carries the MADI signal over distances measured in tens of kilometers without quality degradation, while keeping the same channel bandwidth as the Multimode version. It's worth noting the device on the other end of the link must also run in single-mode — the vast majority of MADI gear on the market uses the Multimode standard.
Redundancy Without Compromising Channel Count
In large installations, a single digital link failure can't mean losing the signal. Two independent SFP slots for MADI modules allow redundant operation — if one interface fails, the other takes over transmission automatically, with no interruption to the signal. The same logic applies to power: two independent supplies are continuously monitored, switching over without interruption, with any failure flagged on the TFT display and mirrored on the GPO output for integration with an external alarm system.
