Ex Machina Selene is an ultra-compact pair of studio monitors driven by the proprietary EXCore outboard DSP and amplification ecosystem. Conceived as the ultimate no-compromise solution for multi-channel Dolby Atmos environments and critical nearfield stereo applications, the Selene physically separates its processing and power from the speaker chassis. This architectural decision results in an incredibly small, lightweight, and versatile satellite enclosure that delivers the colossal headroom and textbook phase linearity typically reserved for much larger, far-field mains.
True Point-Source Precision for Immersive Audio
Translating spatial audio accurately requires pristine off-axis response and pinpoint imaging. The Selene tackles this head-on with a custom 3rd-generation 6.3-inch coaxial driver outfitted with TPCD (Thin-Ply Carbon Diaphragm) technology. This configuration forms a true acoustic point source with a perfectly symmetrical 90-degree conical dispersion pattern. Working in tandem with the SHARC+ equipped EXCore rack unit and its flagship AKM conversion, the system achieves a breathtakingly flat frequency response and an ultra-tight ±15° phase coherence, eradicating the spatial smearing often found in complex immersive setups.
Inert Enclosure, Infinite Rigging Options
Sympathetic enclosure resonance is a notorious issue when mounting dozens of speakers in a single control room. To combat this, Ex Machina housed the Selene in an acoustically dead, 6.5-inch extruded aluminum cube featuring 7mm walls and a solid 12mm front baffle. Because the heavy amplifiers and power supplies are relocated to the 2RU EXCore unit, each monitor weighs a highly manageable 14 lbs. Equipped with standard VESA 75x75mm and 100x100mm hard points, the Selene integrates seamlessly with off-the-shelf mounting hardware, drastically reducing the complexity and cost of immersive overhead and surround rigging.
