Embodme Erae 2 is a controller built around a 16,000-point force sensor matrix, with a 42 × 24 RGB display underneath, 24 configurable analogue outputs and an eight-track looper. It speaks MIDI 1.0, MPE and MIDI 2.0.
One instrument instead of a keyboard, pads and a CV box
A typical hybrid rig means an MPE keyboard for melodic parts, pads for percussion and a separate MIDI-to-CV interface for the modular — three devices, three power supplies and three places for something to drift out of sync. The Erae 2 covers all three from a single surface: layouts are defined in the Erae Lab app, and eight scene selectors switch between them mid-performance. The 24 outputs (12 dual pairs) can be configured as CV/gate, drum triggers or bipolar modulation into a patch.
Resolution that captures the gesture, not an approximation of it
XY position is read to 100 µm in both absolute and relative modes, and global response time stays under 1 millisecond. In practice a slow finger movement across a zone produces a continuous curve rather than steps, and stick playing carries no perceptible gap between strike and sound. The looper runs eight independent tracks with their own length, quantisation and BPM, and the arpeggiator lets you choose key and scale on the fly.
