Burl Audio B16-BDA4M-1414 — a 4-channel mastering-grade DAC card for the B16 Mothership chassis, with a switchable BX5 output transformer and a B2-style stepped attenuator. The same card also fits a B80 chassis.
The signal path runs through a BOPA14 or BOPA11 op-amp from the NextGen Analog line, and its output can be routed through the BX5 transformer, the same one used in the B32 Vancouver Mix Bus, or bypassed for a cleaner, more direct path. On the digital side, the card offers a switchable DAC filter and Avid delay compensation.
Precise hardware inserts with no phase drift
Patching an outboard processor into a mix or mastering insert loop usually introduces a small but audible phase offset between the dry and processed paths. The BDA4M addresses this with Avid delay compensation, which precisely matches the output delay to the return time of an external device. Paired with a BAD4M card, it forms a complete four-channel insert loop ready for any analog mastering processor.
