Bricasti Design M10 and 1 M7M is a system pairing the M7M reverb processor with the M10 remote console, joined by a serial cable. The M7M is an exact duplicate of the M7 processor with reduced front panel controls, intended to be run from the M10.
Control at the desk, the processor in the rack
The classic problem with a mastering grade processor in a rack: the best place for the electronics is not the best place for the knobs. The M7M hands control over to the M10 console, which sits at the listening position while the processor itself moves somewhere quieter and cooler. The link is a nine pin RS422 serial cable, ten metres as standard and extendable to thirty. Power for the console travels down the same cable, so no additional supply appears at the desk.
Expansion to eight processors
A single M10 console drives anything from one to eight M7 or M7M processors, chained in a serial loop: you connect to the first, loop out to the second and so on. A system with one M7M is therefore a starting point that expands without replacing the control surface. The processor itself runs six dual core Analog Devices DSPs, accepts analogue and AES 24 bit digital input, self-clocks to sample rates from 44.1 to 192 kHz and holds jitter below twenty picoseconds.
