The U5, M5, and V5 preamplifiers ship in a half-rack format, convenient on a desktop but not a direct fit for a standard 19 inch rack without extra hardware. This becomes an issue specifically when an engineer wants to run two of these units as a matched pair, for drum overheads or a stereo vocal chain for example, and needs a permanent, uniform mount instead of improvising with a rack shelf.
Rackmounting a Matched Half-Rack Pair
The RM-2 joins two U5, M5, or V5 units side by side into a full 19 inch section ready to drop into any studio or touring rack. This removes the need for a separate rack shelf or improvised mounting, while keeping both units flush in the same plane, which keeps knobs and front panel inputs easy to reach during a session.
Mounting Without Modifying the Chassis
The kit is built around two stainless steel rack ears and two T-bar braces that join the two units from the center, without drilling extra holes into the preamplifier chassis. A complete set of ten stainless steel screws finishes the mount without needing hardware outside the kit, and the metal components are solid enough to handle a rack being moved regularly between the studio and the road.
