Austrian Audio OD505 WL1

Austrian Audio OD505 WL1 is an active dynamic capsule for wireless transmitters that brings the sound of the OD505 microphone to a wireless rig. It twists onto Shure, Sony and Lectrosonics handheld transmitters, so improving stage vocal sound does not mean replacing an entire wireless system.

Vocals that cut through without pushing the gain

The supercardioid pattern gives a narrow pickup angle and high feedback stability, which is what matters with floor wedges and a loud band on a small stage. The dual capsule design keeps the tone consistent even as the singer changes distance and angle, so the engineer is not rescuing the part with a compressor. Detail and clarity put the OD505 WL1 close to condenser territory, without a condenser's sensitivity to sound pressure and to spill from the rest of the stage.

Plosive control without adding extra screens

A purpose-built 3D pop noise diffusor breaks up air blasts before they reach the diaphragm, which cuts the familiar thump on plosives. On a wireless rig that has a concrete consequence: a handheld transmitter has limited headroom, and a plosive can clip the input before the console ever sees it, at which point nothing downstream can fix it. A maximum SPL of 150 dB means the capsule also handles very loud close delivery.
