Austrian Audio OC18 Dual Set Plus

The OC18 is a single-diaphragm version of the flagship CKR12 capsule found in the OC818, built with Open Acoustic technology to minimize internal housing resonance. The Dual Set Plus pairs two OC18 units, factory-matched in cardioid mode (and compatible with an OC818 running in cardioid mode), delivering a 20 Hz–20 kHz frequency range, 13 mV/Pa sensitivity, and a maximum SPL of 148 dB (158 dB with the pad engaged). The bundle includes two shockmounts, a stereo bar, and a carrying case housing the full set.

Factory matching instead of manual pairing in the studio

A common problem when building a stereo pair from separately purchased mics: sensitivity and frequency-response differences between units that need to be caught and compensated for in the mix. OC18 capsules are measured and matched at the Vienna factory, and any unit pairs consistently with any other OC18 or an OC818 in cardioid mode — removing the need to hand-select matching mics before a session using X-Y, ORTF, or Blumlein techniques.

A complete mounting kit instead of sourcing extra hardware

With stereo techniques like spaced pair or ORTF, a missing stereo bar or mismatched shockmounts can stall a session before the first take. The Dual Set Plus ships with two shockmounts and a stereo bar included, so the pair can be mounted on a single stand in precisely set geometry without hunting for extra accessories, and the carrying case keeps the whole kit organized and protected between sessions.
