Audient ASP8024 Heritage Edition 36 Ch Console w/DLC/PB is a 36-channel fully analog in-line recording console with 24-bus routing, equipped with both the Dual Layer Control (DLC) module and the integrated patchbay (PB) — a five-bay configuration (three 12-channel bays, master section, DLC bay, and PB bay) measuring approximately 239 cm wide and weighing around 166 kg. This is the most complete 36-channel configuration of the ASP8024-HE platform, combining the full analog signal path, VCA automation with motorised faders, and front-panel access to all studio connections within a single physical frame — without a separate DAW controller or external rack patchbay.
DLC and PB — Integrated Control and Routing From a Single Operating Position
The DLC module provides 8 motorised faders bankable across the entire session, 8 additional line inputs routable to the mix bus or subgroups, a high-resolution OLED display, a jog/shuttle wheel, and DAW control via Ethernet using HUI/Mackie Control protocol. Eight channels of VCA automation allow console fader moves to be recorded and played back in the analog domain; the same eight physical faders handle the DAW layer simultaneously. Supported DAWs are Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase, and Nuendo. The PB module adds 576 Bantam TT patch points — including 144 user-configurable positions for outboard integration and live room tie lines, configurable as through-wired or half-normalled at order. The patchbay handles two 24-track recording devices (REC A and REC B) with playback normalled to tape inputs of channels 1–24 and 25–36, front-panel access to all channel inserts on both mic/line and DAW/tape paths, and full master section access. In this configuration the operator has simultaneous access to every signal point in the console, DAW control, and VCA fader automation from a single seat.
In-Line at 36 Channels, Retro Iron, and Combined Input Count
The in-line architecture delivers 80 inputs from the 36 channel strips plus 8 additional line inputs from the DLC module — up to 88 signal sources managed from one operating position. The four-band Dearden EQ with two fully parametric mid bands (40 Hz–20 kHz, ±15 dB, variable Q) and two shelving bands is splittable per channel independently. Retro Iron on the stereo bus output — Carnhill transformer and John Hardy 990C — delivers +28 dBu into 600 Ω at the mix insert send with Low Bump and High Lift EQ before the output faders. The VCA stereo bus compressor with adjustable threshold, ratio, auto-release, and GR metering operates post-insert, pre-fader. Fourteen aux sends (12 mono plus 2 cue), 8 subgroups, 36 record buses, and Penny & Giles 8000 series faders on all input channels. Supplied with a single ASP8120 Ultra power supply.
