Arturia MicroBrute UFO is a limited-edition synthesizer — a fully analog mono synth returning in a Space Black and Martian Green finish. The synthesis architecture is identical to the original MicroBrute: the same raw Steiner-Parker filter, the same brutal oscillator stack, and the same patchable Mod Matrix. What's new: updated knobs that won't go sticky after a few years, and an aesthetic that earns double-takes.
One oscillator that does the work of three
The VCO is where MicroBrute UFO earns its reputation. Saw, Pulse, and Triangle are the starting point — three dedicated modifiers take it further. Ultrasaw thickens the saw wave into something dense and wide without any digital unison tricks. Metalizer folds extreme harmonics into the triangle wave, turning clean tones into something grinding and complex. The sub-oscillator, switchable between octave and fifth, adds low-end mass that you feel before you hear it. All of this runs through the Steiner-Parker 2-pole multimode filter — LP, BP, HP — with resonance that goes all the way into self-oscillation. The Brute Factor control feeds the output back into the signal path: dialed low, it adds grit and saturation; pushed hard, it creates full intermodulation chaos.
Mod Matrix and sequencer — semi-modular thinking in a compact box
No menus, no presets. Every parameter lives on the front panel, and the Mod Matrix extends that logic into semi-modular territory. Mini-jack patch points let you route LFO, ADSR envelope, or incoming external CV to filter cutoff, PWM, Metalizer depth, saw modifier, or global pitch. Stackable patch cables are included in the box. CV/Gate output, Pitch Out, and Gate In make MicroBrute UFO a natural citizen in a Eurorack setup or any analog signal chain. The step sequencer handles 8 patterns with up to 64 steps each, with variable rate and trigger modes — enough to build evolving, looping sequences entirely without a DAW. MIDI 5-pin DIN input and USB-MIDI keep it compatible with any modern studio workflow.
