fromEricaSynths combines digital sound generation with ease-of-use andanaloguep urrisis. Pérkons means ''thunder'', an ahybridsound generation, together with analogue effects and their interconnection within the instrument, more than meets the natural. Big beat, fireworks of other sounds in between- peppered with coincidences and waiting, something like this must have been in Eric Synths' mind when developing the Pérkons HD-01. If you prefer the Four-to-the-Floor scheme, you'll get your money's worth here too. This versatile percussion synthesiser covers gaudy electronic sounds, a cross-section of industrial sounds and much between ''plok'' and ''booooom''.

Sound generation and effects

Each of the four voices has threemodes that cover a different repertoire. Common to them all is the channel structure, which consists of digital sound generation and analogue post-processing viamulti-mode filter (LP, BP HP),overdrive and its ownFX insert. All in all, we find here an analogue, very charismaticdelayBBD with its own modulating LFO,master overdrive andoptical compressor. Unless the FX inserts are assigned, both the corresponding channel and the sum are routed through the BBD-Delay. A synchronised masterLFO with seven passes can be applied to one of eight destinations per channel, adding a lot of liveliness to drum patterns. Sound settings can be stored in64memory locations.

Sequencer

The clever sequencer has more tricks in store than you might think at first. For each track, you can set thestep length (up to 64 steps/4 bars),playback directionand divider/multiplier ratio. In addition, for each step you can programratcheting (multiple triggering)and probability.Shuffle can be activated on all tracks for more funk and ''Chicago feel''. Created patterns can be saved and recalled on a total of64memory locations. If that's not enough, additional patterns can be stored on a separately availableSD card .

Connections

The unusually full rear panel of this drum machine offers a singleoutput per channel,send/return connectors for external effect devices and avelocity-sensitive trigger input so that the relevant channel or all four can be dynamically played with an e-drum pad. The main output is mono and also has send/return connectors. ViaMIDI, the Pérkons can be connected to other sequencers and controllers.
