Abasi Concepts ēmi 8 Legion Crimson Metallic

Abasi Concepts ēmi 8 Legion Crimson Metallic is an eight-string guitar built around a 27.5 to 25.5 inch multiscale neck, Fishman Fluence Tosin Abasi pickups and the ergonomics carried over from the brand’s flagship instruments. The Legion series exists so that a Tosin Abasi design lands within reach of a working session player rather than a collector only.

An eighth string with pitch, not just rumble

The low end is where most eight-strings fall apart. On a single scale length the lowest string runs out of tension, drifts sharp up the neck and turns into a smear instead of a note. Fanning the scale to 27.5 inches under the eighth string and 25.5 inches under the first fixes that mechanically. The bottom stays tight and holds intonation under a hard pick attack, while the treble side keeps the give of a standard scale, so lead lines and bends need no change in technique. The bridge uses individual saddles, so intonation is set per string, and the factory Abasi Concepts x EBMM set gauged 9.5 to 74 is matched to that exact fan.

A full session without wrist fatigue

The basswood body is sculpted so the weight sits evenly whether the guitar is on a strap or on your knee, and the wenge neck in a thin U profile stays stable without feeling like a plank under the thumb. The ebony fretboard runs a compound radius from 16 to 21.5 inches, which is exactly what a fanned scale needs: it flattens toward the upper positions so fast runs and bends do not choke out. Twenty-four X-jumbo stainless steel frets take years of playing without grooving. The Fishman Fluence Tosin Abasi pickups switch between voicings, so one instrument covers both a dense, heavily compressed riff and a clean, articulate passage. Abasi Locking tuners cut string changes down, and the two-way spoke wheel truss rod lets you correct relief without taking the guitar apart.
