Spectra 1964 BB-DI is a passive direct box built around a proprietary Hi-Z transformer custom-wound by Cinemag. The circuit sits in an extruded aluminium enclosure with moulded rubber end caps, so the unit survives studio racks and nightly trips in a flight case equally well.
Bass and keys without the coloration
Cheaper direct boxes lose low end and round off transients as soon as an active bass or a Rhodes hits them hard. The BB-DI takes up to +15 dBu and holds its response within 1 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Distortion stays below 0.01% across the band, so nothing enters the signal path that the player did not put there.
No more ground hum on stage
The isolation transformer separates instrument ground from console ground, which stops the amp-to-desk ground loop from turning into hum. The balanced output drives a long XLR run to the stage box without shaving off the top end. The design is entirely passive, so there is no phantom power or battery to remember before doors.
