Model:Cycles runs on the same FM engine that powers the Digitone, packaged into six ready-to-play machines: Kick, Snare, Metal, Perc, Tone, and Chord. A B-Stock unit is typically fully functional and factory-tested, possibly showing minor marks on the packaging or chassis from a return or display use, and sold at a lower price than a brand-new unit — the internal electronics and specification remain identical to standard retail stock.

Six FM engines, zero menus to dig through

FM synthesis has a reputation for being hard to tame — multi-operator algorithms on classic machines require understanding a modulation matrix before anything sounds intentional. Model:Cycles handles this differently: each of the six machines gets exactly four knobs — Color, Shape, Sweep, and Contour — mapping deep FM parameters onto simple, physical gestures. There's no need to know operator theory to pull a metallic bell out of Metal or a singing lead line out of Tone; turning a knob and listening to what happens in real time is the whole workflow.

Per-track sequencing, ready for stage and studio

Each of the six tracks carries its own sequence length and scale, so two tracks can run loops of different step counts simultaneously, generating naturally shifting, polyrhythmic phrases without manually programming offsets. Parameter locks let any parameter change on a single step — including switching the entire sound machine mid-sequence — while trig conditions and micro timing add irregularity and groove that a rigid, classic step sequencer can't reach. A class-compliant USB audio interface captures the stereo mix straight into a DAW, though it's worth knowing the unit has only one stereo output with no individual track outs — a deliberate trade-off in favor of a compact, portable chassis.
