Octatrack MKII is a machine designed primarily for live performance that redefines how you transform, interact with, and play sounds. It's a stereo sampler, processor, and live looper with a powerful sequencer and workstation workflow. The system offers a choice of several custom "machines" – Static, Flex, Thru, Neighbor, Pickup – tailored to different needs related to sample recording, manipulation, and effects processing for each of the eight tracks. Static is better for longer samples with more memory, Flex for complex manipulation of smaller components, Thru processes external signals with effects, Neighbor plays signals from connected sources, and Pickup can record while playing current material.
Sound design and modulation capabilities are enormous – three LFOs available for each track with an LFO designer offering etch-a-sketch workflow plus smoothing and 19 waveforms to choose from. LFOs can be applied not only to internal and external audio modulation but also to MIDI. The system offers two insert effects per audio track with a huge selection of reverbs, filters, and many more. Available are: the band-defining base-width filter, characteristic comb filter, two types of equalizer for precise frequency control, compression, lo-fi, flanger, phaser, delay, chorus, spatializer, and more. If more effects slots are needed, use a neighbor machine and double their number.
Octatrack MKII can function as a small mixing desk and effects hub for the entire setup, utilizing configurable pairs of stereo inputs and equally configurable pairs of main and cue outputs. Connecting external MIDI gear allows the machine to orchestrate the entire setup through eight dedicated tracks, each with MIDI LFOs and CC control pages. The legendary Elektron sequencer enables laying out ideas with absolute control and any depth – for both internal sounds and external gear. In addition to eight audio tracks, eight MIDI sequencer tracks are available. The Arranger allows transforming sequences into songs with repeat, mute, loop, and jump commands. Octatrack MKII ships with nearly 5 GB of loops and one-shots from Origin Sound, Loopmasters, Sample Magic, and Samples from Mars.
